Video: Petra shows off her Kvit factor
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova showed her grasscourt pedigree in the first round of the Aegon Classic Birmingham yesterday.
It came with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 win over former Roland Garros finalist Lucie Safarova.
Kvitova was joined in the second round by defending Aegon Classic Birmingham champion and Australian Open winner Angelique Kerber, who won 7-6, 6-3.
Kvitova said: "I love to play on the grass. We have one extra week between Paris and Wimbledon, which is great for us."
Rain curtailed play yesterday, with Britons Naomi Broady and Tara Moore held up overnight, to resume today.
Elsewhere today, British No.1 Johanna Konta was set to be in action against Misaki Doi, while top seed Agnieszka Radwanska will resume her match against Coco Vandeweghe.
Belinda Bencic and Caroline Wozniacki were also among the stars set to feature.
Meanwhile, Andy Murray was reunited with coach Ivan Lendl before surviving a scare to defeat Nicolas Mahut at Queen's.
