The 23-year-old from Compton finished second in the men's amateur junior category, for 20 to 23-year-olds, at the competition in St Albans.

It was his first fitness event, with other 350 competitors in total.

For his second-placed finish he was awarded with a Miami Pro professional card, meaning he can compete in the professional class at the world championships next year.

Hanneman, who works as a personal trainer, thought he would try his hand after seeing other people he knew doing well in such events.

He said: "I have known a few competitors for a while now and got involved with it all that way. I trained towards that and decided to enter myself. It's the first one I have done.

"Leading up to the competition, I was probably dieting for seven months and then strictly dieting for around 14 weeks.

"I was training seven times a week, doing weight training about six times a week, and then going to seminars to learn different posing techniques.

"Of course, I work in the industry so I was getting ideas from people I know too so that served me well."

In terms of aims for the future, Hanneman wants to become a big name within the industry and one day make it to 'Musclemania' – the biggest natural bodybuilding competition in the world.

That could be achieved by winning a professional Miami Pro event next year, as one winning athlete will be sponsored to fly out and compete at the Musclemania Fitness Universe event.

He added: "In the pro division there are bigger prizes, Musclemania in America is something I would definitely like to be involved with in the future. I would like to go into the modelling side of things as well.

"What I am hoping to do now is go to Miami Pro and the UKBFF's (United Kingdom Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation championships) next year.

"I will spend the rest of the year preparing for those, it's a very long process."
