The boys team led by captain Ethan Barker and including Rhys Peters, Blake Webb, Callum Bird and Harrison Bottrill, showed the rivals the way home as they claimed gold.

Amber Catley led her team-mates Anne Marie Wardle, Grace Cooper, Chloe Mallon and Amy Rowbathan to bronze in the girls competition.

Pheasey Park Farm were the only school to achieve a top-three position for both teams, much to the delight of swimming teacher Jane James, who said: "The importance of learning to swim cannot be underestimated. We are very proud of our children's achievements and also thank our parents and staff for their support."

The success in the pool followed a series of other impressive sporting achievements at the school recently.

The girls football team have excelled this season and are looking forward to playing Walsall Wood in the Walsall Primary Football final while they have also reached the semi-finals of the Division One Championship.

The boys year five and six cross country side claimed second overall in the Walsall Primary Schools cross country competitions while five pupils represented Walsall against Sandwell, Wolverhampton and Dudley in the district finals at Aldersley stadium.

The tag rugby team also had a very successful season, achieving joint second place in the Streetly Tag Rugby Festival.
