Cancer victim Tom Fell making progress
Wolverhampton cricketer Tom Fell is having 'promising' check-ups on his testicular cancer ahead of the new season.
The 22-year-old batsman scored more than 1,000 runs for Worcestershire last season.
And his performances were a positive note in a campaign that ultimately ended in relegation to Division Two of the County Championship.
He also helped Wolverhampton escape relegation from the Birmingham & District League Premier Division.
Then, in October, the talented young prospect was given some earth-shattering news, but four months on from his diagnosis and subsequent operation things are looking positive.
Given a 65 per cent of remaining clear, Fell decided not to undergo chemotherapy and instead opted for regular check-ups.
He said: "Everything seems to be OK on that front at the moment. My recent results have been promising and so it's just a matter of having my monthly appointments and keeping an eye on things."
Just two cricketers – Yorkshire and England wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow and Ben Brown of Sussex – scored more centuries than 22-year-old Fell in Division One last season.
