Sean O'Driscoll not interested in form book

Head coach Sean O'Driscoll isn't taking too much notice of the form book ahead of Walsall's clash with Bury.

Dave Flitcroft's Shakers have lost five of their last six League One games heading into tomorrow's match at Gigg Lame.

In stark contrast, Walsall have the best away record in the division having collected more points and kept more clean sheets than any other side.

But O'Driscoll pointed out statistics can be read in all sorts of way.

"I like stats - but I like simple ones," he said.

"Bury have lost their last three games but they have only lost two games at home all season.

"You can look at it which ever way you want.

"English football dictates - whatever division you are in - that there are no easy games.

"We are going away from home on what will be, because of the weather, a treacherous surface.

"It will be a tough game."

O'Driscoll believes it's difficult to understand why the team has played so well away from the Banks's, but the boss believes the players deserve credit for their impressive record.

"It's one of those tangibles that nobody really understands," he said.

"You can analyse it until the cows come home but it's probably not one thing – it's a combination of many things coming together.

"We are really good when we go toe-to-toe with people.

"Sometimes that's not the best policy but it seems to be getting the best in people.

"And I think if we go a goal up, the players have shown they are a really tenacious bunch and a hard team to beat.

"Being away from home sometimes gives you a little bit more opportunity, a little bit more space.

"At home, the opposition have really done their homework and it's down to you to solve problems.

"That's probably the biggest thing.

"But I think in every game this team will create chances and what is happening now is that people have come off the bench and have changed the complexion of the game. That has been a real plus."
