Kidderminster Harriers chief Gordon plans Great Escape
Defiant chief executive Colin Gordon reckons Kidderminster Harriers can "do a Leicester" and pull off the Great Escape.
Harriers sit bottom of the National League Premier, 12 points adrift of safety, having won just twice all season.
But Gordon, who has taken over responsibility for the first-team following this week's departure of head coach Dave Hockaday, believes they can emulate the Foxes – who survived in the Premier League last season despite being bottom for much of it.
In a lengthy interview with Gordon and chairman Rod Brown on the club's official website, it was revealed Harriers playing budget has fallen under £200,000 and is presently dwarfed by the sums being paid out to players and managers no longer at Aggborough.
But Gordon remains confident they can overcome all their problems and stay in the non-league top flight.
"It's more than possible, you look for inspiration and people who have been in this position," he said.
"You probably look at Leicester City last year and where they are and what they have achieved.
"They found a belief, a will and a desire to ground it out, result by result, point by point and in the end they comfortably survived," he said. ""It is not unheard of to be in this position and get out of trouble. That is what we are desperately trying to do."
Defender Zaine Francis-Angol has signed a new, 18-month deal with the club.
