The 27th-minute goal was enough to put the Boro nine points clear at the top of Evo Stik First Division South to the delight of manager Neil Kitching.

"I thought we were superb from start to finish and were the better side in both halves," said Kitching. "We've managed the game superbly and they didn't have a shot at goal in the second half."

Rangers' Ben Haseley headed wide before they took the lead when a Nathan Rooney cross found Dacres and fired home off the underside of the bar.

The hosts looked to double their lead before the break with the Goole keeper Danny Waring denying Haseley twice.

In the second half, Kitching's side created fewer chances and frustrated their hosts who could have equalised when Whitehouse denied Christopher Jackson with before Marvin Robinson heading the resulting corner off the line.
