Harry Marple downed by TKO on BAMMA 23

Staffordshire's Harry Marple suffered his first mixed martial arts defeat after going down by stoppage at the weekend.

The welterweight left the amateur scene undefeated to join BAMMA (British Association of Mixed Martial Arts) earlier this year,

The 25-year-old fights out of the Team Kaobon gym in Cannock run by former world kickboxing champion and ex-UFC operator Paul Taylor.

And they will be going back to the drawing board after Marple's loss in his third BAMMA bout, winning the previous two inside the distance.

'Dirty Harry' took on Shane Gunfield on BAMMA 23's 'Night of Champions' at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.

It was looking promising after he won the first round, but he got caught out of position in the second as Gunfield attacked with strikes.

The referee acted to award Gunfield the decision by TKO, with three minutes and two seconds of the five-minute round gone.
