Telford trio are still in the shake-up for Senior Cup glory

There was cup joy in the TJ Vickers Sunday Senior Cup for three out of four Telford clubs as Shifnal Royals, Shifnal Town Europeans and Barley FC all progressed to the next round.

Last week's CA Ford Memorial Cup winners, Shifnal Royals, secured an impressive 6-3 victory over Instones to make it into the hat while the Europeans got the better of Beacon with a 4-2 home win.

Barley FC travelled to Coton Rovers and needed extra-time to come away with an entertaining 7-5 win.

But Shifnal North End bowed out at home, going down to visitors Loppington 6-2.

In the Telford Flooring – Telford Sunday League, there are new leaders in Division One with The Coalport Oakengates climbing to top spot.

With Bulls Head Dawley Bank Vets finding themselves without a fixture and Wrockwardine Wood 2013 FC unexpectedly going down to a 7-3 defeat at home to the in-form Celtic Spartans, the Oakengates club took their opportunity to climb to the top of the standings.

They got the better of visitors Riverside in an entertaining 3-2 win.

Dawley Social Club also picked up maximum points with a 2-1 home win against The Lord Hill Market Drayton to go second in what is becoming a very tight division.

Malt Shovel travelled to Hinstock Falcons and came away 6-3 victors.

Division Two went more to form, with leaders Dawley Wanderers Vets coming out on top with a 5-1 win at Ironbridge Town FC.

Travellers Joy held on to second place with an impressive 5-1 win on the road at Lawley.

It was a standout day for Bridgnorth Athletic who thumped Telford Rangers 9-0 at home and climbed to third.

Wrockwardine Wood Juniors got the better of hosts Hare and Hounds with a 6-1 win while White Horse Athletic fired six goals past visitors Rose and Crown Stirchley.
