Spectators enjoyed 16 singles and seven doubles matches in the £10,000 ITF Pro Circuit event featuring young British and international players.

There was success in the singles for Birmingham-based Lloyd Glasspool, 21, defeating compatriot Scott Clayton 7-6(6) 6-4. Glasspool will also appear in the second round of the doubles with partner Joshua Ward-Hibbert, where they are seeded third and will play fellow Brits Neil Pauffley and Robbie Ridout.

Luke Bambridge, 20, of Nottingham, fought hard to win his singles match 7-6(1) 7-6(3) against fourth seed Joris De Loore (BEL). British pairing Scott Clayton and Richard Gabb received a bye in the doubles first round, and will face De Loore and partner Michael Geerts for what promises to be an exciting match, as the Belgians cruised to a 6-3 6-1 victory.

British qualifiers Luke Oakley and Joel Cannell went head to head in the singles first round, with Cannell the victor at 7-6(3) 6-0.

Coming up against Ed Corrie, the highest ranked Brit who is seeded third for the tournament, was never going to be easy for wild card Jay Clarke, but he put up a good fight before going out to Corrie 6-4 6-3.

Number one seed Lorenzo Giustino progresses to the second round but was given a run for his money by Josh Paris, who fought hard before going out to the Italian 6-4 7-6(3).
