Khalsa hero: I knew I would win it
Sporting Khalsa's FA Cup match-winning hero Simeon Townsend knew he would have a say in the club's fairytale cup run.
The former Black Country Rangers striker has only made two starts for the club this season and was named on the bench for Khalsa's huge third qualifying round replay at Spalding United.
But he was on hand to grab the winner as Khalsa came from behind to win 2-1.
Townsend said: "Our manager Ian Rowe spoke with me before the game. I like a battle but he said to me he wanted me for my football and not for the fight so I came on in the second half.
"Ten minutes into coming on and nothing was falling for me but I knew I'd score. I remember somebody saying 'it'll come'. Tim Jackson put a ball in and I got something on it and it went in at the stanchion."
Wednesday night saw Khalsa's heroics rewarded further as FC United of Manchester won their replay against Buxton – meaning the fan-created non-league giants will travel to Noose Lane a week on Saturday for a place in the first round proper.
"We're the centre of attention now and we're all loving it," he said.
"There are people getting in touch that we haven't heard from in ages and others from all over the place, obviously some from Manchester.
"We expect a couple of thousand people from FC United. It hasn't sunk in at all yet.
"We have Boldmere St Michaels in the league tomorrow and we'll be grounded. That'll be a hurdle for us."
Rowe's men return to league action with the visit of Boldmere, who are struggling in 20th before going to Brocton on Tuesday.
"We want two wins from our two league games, forget the cup," he said. "But everyone has family coming down for the game and I think we could get a thousand of our fans there.
"It will be an amazing atmosphere."
