The duo have qualified for the American Golf 9 Hole Championship National Final which is being held at the world famous venue from October 2-4.

Day, a 15-handicapper, and Burke, who plays off 18, booked their place in the Midlands qualifier at the Chase Golf near Cannock where the region's golfers battled it out for two places in the final.

The pairs competition, played over nine holes, is part of American Golf's drive to promote the shorter version of the game and get more people out playing golf.

Day and Burke, who are also members at The Chase, will now join qualifiers from nine other regions around the UK and Ireland battling it out to be crowned the first ever American Golf 9 Hole Champions.

The final will see 20 pairs competing over two days.

Up for grabs with the title will be a trip for two to the Bahamas, a round of golf with a TaylorMade Tour Player plus other prizes from tournament sponsor TaylorMade Golf.
