Both were guests of honour at Sedgley White Lions' end-of-season awards evening, where they handed out a host of prizes.

Among the biggest winners on the night, which was held at the Venue in Dudley, were Sedgley Under-12s East and West who shared the Golden Boot Award.

The accolade is awarded to a team or teams that have achieved the most success.

Club Secretary Neil Smith said: "The committee faced a particularly difficult choice for Golden Boot winners.

"The Under-12s East, under the stewardship of manager Kevin Lockley, won the Bilston League Premier Division title, the Charity Cup, the Merit Shield and were losing finalists in the -Inter League County Cup competition.

"The Under-12s West were recently on the verge of folding after losing two managers in quick succession and hardly winning a game all season.

"That was until Malcolm Wilkes took over. He persevered with pretty much the same group of players and in a short time turned them into a real force."

There were plenty of other winners on the night, with every player from the club's 11 teams

receiving a trophy as thanks for their contribution while three players from each side received special awards for Clubman of the Year, Manager's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.

The Scott Holloway Memorial Award, which is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the club, was given to Maddison Media's managing director Lee Francis.

Maddison Media helped to give the evening a professional club-style atmosphere.

They provided a sound and light show, a video wall and a specially built stage as well as a professional master of ceremonies.

An auction of donated sporting memorabilia was also held on the night raising almost £2,000 which will help provide new team strips for the forthcoming season.

Having started in 1985 with just two teams under its banner, the event was a fitting way to mark the club's 30th anniversary year.
