Breaking News: Kidderminster Harriers chairman resigns
Kidderminster Harriers chairman Ken Rae today resigned from the football club with immediate effect
Following a detailed board meeting with shareholders, Rae along with directors Gino Ruffinato and John Davies all tendered their resignations.
Harriers said the following in a club statement:
The major shareholders of Kidderminster Harriers FC have met with the Chairman of the football club, Ken Rae, who has today tendered his resignation.
"Also resigning are Gino Ruffinato and John Davies who have worked tirelessly for the club in recent years.
"We thank them each for their valuable input and efforts on behalf of the club and in particular their services following the sudden resignation last year of the former Chairman and his wife.
"There was a serious gap to be filled and they willingly rose to the challenge.
"This new situation has afforded the shareholders and the Board of Directors an opportunity to restructure the administration of the club to enable it to meet the challenges currently being faced by many football clubs.
"The aim is to attract further investment into the club and to provide a secure future for its administrative staff, coaching staff and players."
Departing director John Davies took to twitter to respond to his resignation:
Speaking to Express & Star earlier this week, vice-chairman Rod Brown admitted the club were in 'disarray' following a turbulent season on and off the pitch.
Brown, who joined the Aggborough board last month, believes common sense decisions are required to pull the club out of their downward spiral.
Harriers have endured a campaign dominated by money worries off the pitch.
Straight talking Brown admits the current picture is bleak, but is confident things can improve if the right calls are made.
"There can be light at the end of the tunnel next year," he said.
"The few weeks I have been at the club you can see as a business it is in disarray.
"There have been a lot of poor decisions and we need to get back working within our means.
"You can't take decisions based emotions, they have to be on common sense.
"I think the club have been bereft of that all season."
Brown revealed the club's budget for next season is likely to be cut in half, adding: "There has been a budget put forward which is manageable.
"Gary Whild is superb and is the best person for the job because of his experience."
The club's slump has frustrated supporters, some of whom held up a banner directed at chairman Ken Rae at the recent games with Telford and Bristol Rovers asking: "Where has the money gone?"
Brown added: "I don't think it is great for Ken at the moment, I don't relish it on anyone.
"The chairman, in his position, is always going to bear the brunt of it.
"But it is not just the chairman, he is only one of several board members and they have to take a bit more responsibility."
