Goalless in the mini Black Country derby
Wolves' highest reserve gate of the season saw them play out a goalless draw with West Brom at Molineux in the mini Black Country derby tonight.
But only Ibrahim Keita will know how he didn't give Wolves the bragging rights after missing an absolute sitter in the second-half, writes Craig Birch.
Some 965 supporters, including a smattering of Baggies fans, turned up for the Under-21 Premier League Division Two clash.
Spectators included Wolves boss Kenny Jackett and Albion assistant David Kemp, keeping tabs on the second-string for head coach Tony Pulis.
An even first-half between the two sides saw the most gilt-edged chance fall to Albion striker Alex Jones with 20 minutes gone.
Jones was put clean through by a threaded ball from playmaker Adil Nabi, but goalkeeper Jonathan Flatt got to his effort and turned it aside.
Conor Hunte nearly made them pay six minutes later when he broke free and cut onto his left foot, thrashing a shot across the box that visiting goalkeeper Alex Palmer had to fingertip away.
Little of note had occurred in the second-half before a calamity of errors first caused Palmer to blunder and then Keita to strike the woodwork.
A chipped ball through from Eusebio Bancessi looked to have been collected by Palmer, only for the shot-stopper to lose his grasp at the ball.
Keita flung himself at it but snatched at his shot, which bounced off the outer side of the post and then to safety.
The striker was hauled off three minutes later for Bradley Reid, Keita still red-faced after spurning his opportunity for the only goal of the game.
And it was Albion who could have won it in the last minute, but what looked like real danger fizzled out in the box.
Another great ball into the box from Adil Nabi found substitute Tyler Roberts completely unmarked, but he could only direct a weak header tamely into the hands of Flatt.
