Chasetown seek former players for anniversary celebrations
Chasetown are appealing for old players to contact them to help the club celebrate its 60th anniversary next month
The Scholars, who were formed in 1954, are hoping to attract anyone who has ever played them across the last six decades for an evening of celebration in the Stadium Suite at Walsall's Banks's Stadium on Saturday, May 24.
Manager Craig Harris wants to see as many old faces as possible.
"We're inviting all ex-players from the last 60 years – not just those who played in the two FA Cup runs – to attend what should be a great night," said Harris, who also captained the club through the famous Cup run in 2005, when they reached the first round proper for the first time and were thrust into the national spotlight when the BBC screened their drawn tie with Oldham Athletic.
"A lot of players have moved house or changed telephone numbers over the years, or numbers have got lost, so we're finding it difficult to track everyone down, but we want as many as possible to get in touch.
"We're in the process of getting people together – you get hold of someone and he will know someone else, so it's snowballing."
There will be a four-course meal plus entertainment, costing £35 per head with a £10 deposit. Partners are also welcome.
Guests should arrive at 6.30pm for 7pm.
Anyone who would like to attend should contact either Andy Cox on 07885 802169 or Brian Baker on 01543 682222.
