Video - Nike unveil new Magista football boot
A week after adidas brought us the knitted boot, Nike followed suit this afternoon with their own launch – a hybrid sock/boot.
Barcelona's Andres Iniesta was involved in the development of the Magista, which, Nike reckons, will revolutionise the football-boot market.
Bayern Munich's Mario Goetze joined Spain great Iniesta in endorsing the new footwear.
But don't expect to see it featuring on the football pitches of Wolverhampton any time soon because, although no details have been released as yet, the price is sure to be, shall we say, prohibitive.
The boots can be pre-ordered from April 29 and will go on general sale on May 22.
For the record, the adidas knitted version, backed by Liverpool's Luis Suarez, is expected to go on sale in time for the World Cup in Brazil.
