The 24-year-old, who has enjoyed two prolific seasons at Keys Park, moved to the Racecourse Ground last night for an undisclosed fee.

The Shropshire-based midfield man earned his move to the Conference just days after his stunning winning goal in the Pitmen's 2-1 win at Bradford Park Avenue became a major hit on YouTube.

Hednesford boss Rob Smith said: "It will be a loss to us, I'd be lying if I said otherwise.

"But it is a fantastic opportunity for Elliott, he has earned it and he goes with our blessing.

"Playing for a club like Wrexham is a great chance for a lad like Elliott and I'm sure he will take it.

"He will improve massively from playing and training full-time and from playing alongside better players.

"Elliott is the kind of lad that loves the big stage so I'm sure he will thrive at Wrexham's level."

The club tweeted a picture wishing Durrell the best of luck ahead of his transfer:

Durrell, who is from Shrewsbury and previously played for AFC Telford United, scored 36 goals for the Pitmen last season and is their leading scorer so far in the current campaign with 23, including his strike at Bradford Park Avenue last Saturday, which went 'viral' on the internet.

Durrell tweeted: "Absolutely delighted to have joined Wrexham. Huge club with a great set of fans! Look forward to making my debut in a Reds shirt.

"However, gutted to be leaving Hednesford Town. Unbelievable club and I've got memories from there that will live with me forever.

"Will always be looking out for their results as that club will always have a special place in my heart. My boys will do the business."

The move completed a whirlwind week for Durrell, whose winning goal in stoppage-time at Bradford Park Avenue received more than 20,000 views on YouTube.

He scored straight from kick-off immediately after the home side had equalised in the dying seconds of the match.

The video shows Durrell receive the ball from team-mate Neil Harvey from the restart and beat four Bradford defenders before scoring from the edge of the penalty area and being mobbed by delighted team-mates and coaches.
