Speedway's Tai Woffinden set for talks over new Wolverhampton deal
Wolverhampton are planning talks with world champion Tai Woffinden early next week.
And team owner Chris Van Straaten admits securing the signature of the sport's golden boy is the key to his team building.
Woffinden hinted last week he was ready to continue racing in the UK but was waiting for Van Straaten to return from holiday. Now the pair are due to meet before Woffinden heads off for a skiing trip.
Van Straaten said: "I have an appointment with Tai early next week and obviously he is an important part of our plans.
"He's been a great credit to the sport since winning the world title, the publicity generated has been excellent and his public appearances have been a massive plus for British Speedway.
"We need to get the top-end of the team finalised, he is a vital piece in the jigsaw – other pieces can fit once we know about Tai.
"As and when we can offer further updates on the position we will."
