England cricketer Kevin Pietersen sparks row
Kevin Pietersen scored another pre-Ashes own-goal today – claiming nobody outside of Australia knows where Brisbane is.
The England ego was was embroiled in a Twitter row today, just days before the Ashes gets under way at the Gabba, following on from his 'banter' last week when he labelled Aussies 'convicts'.
Pietersen was pictured on the front page of the Brisbane-based Courier Mail walking alone and wearing earphones as England arrived at the airport.
The headline read: "He's so arrogant not even his own team likes him."
After an initial Twitter response claiming front-page treatment will merely boost his ego, sealing his message with a kiss, Pietersen's reaction to a little more goading read: "I would have preferred a Sydney front page tbh... but I'll take Melbourne!
"No-one has heard of Brisbane outside Oz!"
Meanwhile, James Anderson has backed England's bowling attack as the debate rages over the third seamer.
Contrary to bowling coach David Saker – who suggested yesterday that the choice between tall men Chris Tremlett, Steven Finn and Boyd Rankin is a done deal – pace spearhead Anderson thinks there could yet be some jockeying for position at the Gabba.
"I think it could be quite a tricky decision for the selectors," said Anderson.
