Former teammates of the popular winger, who died this week, were introduced to the crowd before a minute's applause was impeccably observed by both the home and visiting support.

Wolves captain Sam Ricketts then led loved ones of the popular winger to the North Bank, where he laid a number 11 shirt behind the goal in recognition of the contribution to Wolves' proud history which the man affectionately known as 'Waggy' made.

Head coach Kenny Jackett said afterwards: "It was a fantastic tribute.

"I met his family before the game and to get a tribute like that shows what a popular player he was and will last long in the memory of everyone that was here.

"With his friends and family and the ex-players I have seen here – people like John Richards, Mel Eves and Kenny Hibbitt – it was a very fitting tribute and shows what a great servant and a great player he was."
