Rushall Olympic hoping to seal deal for Dele Adebola
Rushall Olympic boss Neil Kitching today insisted the Pics can pull of a coup by convincing Dele Adebola to sign.
The former Birmingham striker has trained with the Pics and could join them on non-contract terms.
The 38-year-old, released by Rochdale in the summer, played in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Kidderminster and, although he will miss tonight's friendly at Chasetown, is in line to feature against Worcester City at the weekend.
Kitching said: "He's come to a point in his career where he's got to make a decision to play part-time football or retire and look at doing his coaching badges.
"Hopefully we will be able to sign him, it's a long shot and we realise that.
"It's not about finances, it's whether Dele can commit to our level of football. He has been a professional for 20 years and it's whether he can commit to travelling to Rushall."
He was joined at training last week by ex-St Andrew's team-mate Stern John, who is on holiday from his Trinidad home and is just visiting the country.
Kitching added: "I left it as a bit of a shock to see what the reaction would be. One or two were a little open-mouthed!"
"There was lots of good Villa and Birmingham banter and Stern and Dele took part in everything. As it was pre-season there was a lot of running and they set a brilliant example."
