WEST BROM
West Brom are trying to sign Argentina World Cup hopeful Federico Fernandez from Rafa Benitez's Napoli. Albion want to take Fernandez on loan for the season, with a view to a £6 million move. Fernandez is in the Argentina squad but cannot get a game for Napoli and is expected to pick between the Baggies and La Liga side Getafe this week.
West Ham hope to capitalise on the failure of Crystal Palace and Fulham to secure Peter Odemwingie. The Hammers have turned their attentions to the Nigerian having failed to agree terms with the former Chelsea striker Kalou.
ASTON VILLA
Blackburn Rovers are expected to tie up the signing of Barry Bannan, who has one year remaining on his Villa contract, although he has been told he can leave and has been training away from the senior squad since returning for pre-season.
