Darlaston Dart Mark Lewis-Francis was today included in Team GB's 4x100m relay squad for London 2012.
The 29-year-old, who won Olympic gold with the relay team in 2004, admitted he was considering quitting last week after failing to meet the 'A' standard for the Games. But he has made the athletics squad, despite not landing an individual place in the 100m.
He is joined by drugs cheat Dwain Chambers after he won the selection trials in Birmingham last week.
Chambers only had his lifetime Olympic ban lifted this year after testing positive for THG in 2004. He said: ""It is a real honour to be selected as part of Team GB. For me representing my country in an Olympics is a privilege that should never be taken for granted.
"To be given the opportunity to do so in my home town has been a dream that at times has seemed very distant and is now a reality. It is now my responsibility to prepare fully for the 100m, the relay, to support all my fellow athletes and all my other colleagues within Team GB. It is a very proud day and I thank the selectors for the confidence and faith they have placed in me."
Ex-Wolverhampton University student Luke Lennon-Ford has made the 4x400m relay team but Tamworth AC's Nathan Woodward is out.
Birchfield Harriers' Brett Morse (discus), Louise Hazel (heptathlon) and Danny Talbot (4x100m) are also included, though Birmingham high jumper Tom Parsons failed to make the team.
Jessica Ennis, favourite for heptathlon gold, Mo Farah and 18-year-old sprinter Adam Gemili are all in.
Ennis said: ""I am really excited to have made my first Olympic team, and can't wait to compete in London in front of a home crowd. I have been training really hard and feel in great shape and am really looking forward to competing.
"I know the atmosphere will be amazing."
