Black Country duo Matthew Dicken and Ash Khayat both competed in the opening events of the PDC Youth Tour at the weekend.

Wednesbury's Dicken reached two third rounds and one second in three events over two days at the Moorways Centre in Derby.

Wednesfield's Khayat reached the third round twice, but was eliminated in the first round of the second event on Saturday.

Dicken opened his weekend with a 4-1 win over Sam Hill, before advancing again with a 4-1 win over Ross Dalton-Short.

But James Hubbard was a step too far, as the PDC World Youth Championship finalist prevailed in a 4-1 win.

Khayat had gone out 4-3 to Jamie Green in the previous phase, after whitewashing Joe Thompson 4-0 in the first round.

In the second event, Khayat fell at the first hurdle, his day coming to a disappointing end with a 4-2 defeat to Wouter Vaes.

Dicken, meanwhile, advanced with a 4-0 whitewash of Robert Raine before again coming a cropper to Hubbard, losing 4-3.

Yesterday, Dicken and Khayat opened with whitewashes, beating Gordon Davies-Morris and Michael Blake 4-0 respectively.

Both experienced success in the second round, too, Dicken with another whitewash 4-0 as Oliver Stell was handled with ease.

Khayat dropped a leg to Jamie Landon but was still a 4-1 winner, before ending up on the wrong end of a 4-0 whitewash to Hubbard.

Dicken went out, as well, losing 4-1 to Chris Aubrey, with Arron Monk winning the event outright.

Monk also won the first event on Saturday, with Michael Smith winning the second event.
