Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes will back in the dugout for Saturday's visit of Burscough after missing the North Ferriby trip through illness and injury.

The Rangers boss came down with a bug last Friday, 24 hours before his side were beaten 3-1 in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

Assistant boss Dorian Garner and coach Mick Hathaway took the team to East Yorkshire, with Clowes left at home to recover.

But Clowes was back at work today and will take training tonight, despite the lingering effects of what is suspected to be a pulled muscle in his back.

The manager has been treated by Dave Heath at his practice in Hanford, Stoke-on-Trent, an osteopath becoming increasingly familiar to the club.

Midfielder Glynn Blackhurst and defender Karl Espley both made quicker-than-expected returns from back problems after Heath's treatment.

And Clowes is another feeling better for it as he resume his duties after some much-needed rest.

He said: "I wasn't very well so I didn't attend the game, I picked a bug up on the Friday and it was pointless me going with that.

"I didn't want to take the chance of spreading it to the rest of the team. I have got a problem with my back, as well, so I got a double whammy.

"It knocked me for 10, I couldn't get out of bed on Friday and Saturday, because the last thing I want to be doing is missing football games.

"I want to see the osteopath yesterday and I am back in work today, I will be at training tonight and I should be back in the dugout for Saturday."
