Stafford Rangers today revealed they have prevented Anthony Maguire from playing for Chasetown in the Staffordshire derby at Marston Road.
The midfielder sits out tomorrow's Evo-Stik Northern Premier League clash under the terms of his move from Rangers to Chasetown last week.
A 'verbal agreement' was reached between Rangers manager Greg Clowes and one of his predecessors, Chasetown boss Chris Brindley.
Maguire scored on his debut but misses a quick return to his former club, where Brindley is back for the first time since resigning in October 2010.
Clowes said: "I have a verbal agreement with Chris, as part of the transfer, that Anthony won't be a part of their plans tomorrow.
"It's not so much that we don't want to face him, but he's only just come out of our club."
Rangers are mid-table going into play while Chasetown are threatened by relegation, despite picking up a point at North Ferriby United in midweek.
Brindley's men are just three points off the drop zone but Clowes warns that the form book counts for nothing in derby games.
He said: "At this stage of the season, every one is looking over shoulders, we are bang on mid-table and we still are.
"But, sometimes, local derbies add a bit of impetus, you can be top versus bottom with local derbies and anything can happen on the day.
"All I want our lads to do is finish the season correctly, as there's been highs and lows."
