Rangers boss has eye on Chasetown
Stafford Rangers boss Greg Clowes believes Chasetown's exploits could work "for or against" his side when the two teams clash on Saturday.
Stafford Rangers boss Greg Clowes believes Chasetown's exploits could work "for or against" his side when the two teams clash on Saturday.
Before the Staffordshire derby at Marston Road, Chasetown must first make the long trip to Yorkshire to play North Ferriby United tonight.
Rangers, meanwhile, will be put through their paces by the manager in training, as they prepare for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League fixture.
Fatigue and morale could be a factor for their visitors on Saturday but Clowes believes that will all be dependant on the result t0night.
He said: "I am obviously aware that Chasetown play tonight and then come to us on Saturday, but it can work both ways.
"If they can pick up a good result tonight, they will come to Marston Road on Saturday with a lot more confidence.
"It can also work the other way if they lose, as well, so it could work for us or against us."
Clowes' men have played just once in midweek this year and only have two fixtures outside of Saturday to come in their last eight games of the season.
And the manager is happy for it to stay that way as he leads his battle-weary squad towards the finish line.
He said: "We have only got two home games left, against Buxton and Nantwich in April.
"We have done pretty well in not losing games, only two have been postponed, Bradford and Buxton.
"We have been lucky because we wouldn't want to play in midweek unless we have to.
"There's only eight games left now, so it allows anybody with niggles and knocks to recover. It's ideal, really.
"We can get people fit again in training where, if we had a midweek game, that wouldn't be happening."
