Stafford Rangers attacker Rob Stevenson will get another chance to stake a claim for a first-team place in a friendly at Eccleshall.

Stevenson came on at half-time and impressed in Saturday's 5-1 home win over Stocksbridge Park Steels, grabbing the fifth goal at the death.

The 18-year-old, who can also play as a winger, will now partner Alan Nagington up front in tonight's specially-arranged game at Pershall Park.

Nagington only returned from his three-week honeymoon on Saturday and will be thrust straight into action against the Eagles.

And Rangers boss Greg Clowes is keen to see Stevenson again deployed as a striker against the North West Counties Division One side.

Clowes said: "Rob has got pace and he's one of these lads that doesn't come short, he hangs off the shoulder of defenders.

"He will play up front with Nagington tonight at Eccleshall and I want to see more of him there, because he's a threat.

"He showed on Saturday that he can take his chances."

The likes of Anthony Maguire, Dan Skelton and captain Paul Donnelly will also start tonight, as will the fit-again Michael Morton.

The manager will also run the rule over trialist Jack Allen, who will partner Morton in midfield, and is braced for interest in his fringe players.

Clowes said: "I want to keep these lads in tip top shape and I have got to keep this squad together. This will be a good test.

"We are getting a few enquiries now about players and I think there will be a few clubs watching tonight."
