Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes today lined up a hat-trick of strikers he plans to bring to Marston Road - after three forwards all turned down a move.

Offers have been put to ex-Nottingham Forest hitman Spencer Weir-Daley and released Hednesford frontman Mark Danks, who are both unattached.

And Clowes can speak to former Chasetown and Rushall Olympic ace Chris Morris on Friday, having made a seven-day approach to his club Romulus.

The Rangers boss has moved on to other targets after Danny Davidson, Tony Evans and Sam Agar all rejected his advances.

Davidson is holding out for another club after leaving Matlock, while Evans and Agar are staying put at Northwich and Stafford Town respectively.

Clowes said: "I have touched base and put an offer to Spencer, he's thinking about because he lives a fair way away in Leicester.

"I have spoken to Mark and put a deal to him, I have also put seven days in with Hednesford as a courtesy. He's going to come back to me.

"The final one is Chris Morris, who banged a lot of goals in for Rushall last year, went to Chasetown but felt he was frozen out.

"All of the targets I have targeted up front have been no mugs, they have got a proven record of scoring goals.

"But, unfortunately, that comes at a price."

Clowes is already clearing the decks at Marston Road, with Harry Clayton returning to Crewe at the end of his one-month loan.

The teenage striker failed to score in five appearances and Clowes will not be seeking an extension to the deal.

He said: "I am not renewing Harry's loan and that's, basically, because I want to bring some permanent strikers into the club.

"He's shown a first-class attitude and I have been happy with him, apart from putting the ball into the back of the net.

"But, that said, he's not always had a great deal of service."
