Kidderminster Harriers goalkeeper Danny Lewis could be out for the season with his injury feared to be an anterior cruciate ligament tear.
Player of the Year Lewis was replaced by Dean Lyness for Saturday's trip to Kettering, after picking up what seemed to be a fairly innocuous knock to the knee in training.
But a scan today has brought the news that there is "significant" damage to Lewis's ACL, but they won't know for sure until he has been to see an orthopaedic specialist.
If Harriers' worst fears are confirmed, Lewis could spend up to nine months on the sidelines.
Club physio Gavin Crowe said: "The radiologist confirmed today that there is a significant change within Danny's ACL, which would indicate damage.
"I would stress that we do need confirmation of this from an orthopaedic specialist - a meeting we're in the process of putting together as quickly as possible.
"If the damage is confirmed, then Danny would eventually need surgery which would keep him out for between six and nine months."
