Kidderminster Harriers' fledglings could get home advantage all the way to the FA Youth Cup first round as the kids' bid for glory continues at Aggborough.

Harriers' academy squad were rewarded for their 5-0 win over Nuneaton Griff in the last phase with a home tie against Stone Dominoes in the second qualifying round tonight.

And the winner will definitely host a third and final qualifying round against Matlock or Teversal, in the week commencing October 16, for a place in the first round proper.

That's when the likes of Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton come in, all dream ties for the Harriers academy, who were only formed in the summer.

The set-up, launched in conjunction with Stourbridge College, is run by ex-Birmingham defender Jerry Gill, who has fond memories of the cup.

Gill got as far as a third round tie at Aston Villa as youth boss for Bristol Rovers last season and has targeted another good run with Harriers.

He said: "We are playing some attractive football in the right way at the moment. The lads have worked tremendously hard over the last 13 weeks to get where they are at.

"They are still not the finished article - we know there is a lot still to be worked on - but I have said from day one that this is a competition I want to try and progress in.

"The players know that if they work hard there are some rewards there, if they apply themselves then they are more than capable of going through."
