Michael Morton has completed a 360 degree turn by signing for, leaving and returning to Stafford Rangers - all inside the space of three months.

Morton re-signed for Rangers after training at Marston Road last night, while boss Greg Clowes has extended the loan of Sam Johnson from Port Vale for another month and brought in a new goalkeeper, Adam Alcock.

Alcock is the younger brother of former Rangers No 1 Danny and was playing for Nantwich in the Evo-Stik Northern League last season.

And Morton will go straight into the squad, after his move from Leek, for tomorrow's home game against Chester.

The midfielder has signed for Rangers for a second time, after putting pen to paper on non-contract forms in June only to walk out on the club less then two weeks later without playing a game.

Johnson will be back in the team between the sticks as Danny Read, who returned in goal for last Saturday's FA Cup win at AFC Wulfrunians, is still not fully fit from a hip problem.

But Dan Skelton, Ryan Dicker and Jon Sheldon all return from injury, while on-loan Andy White returns at left-back, although the game may have come too soon for Kevin Street.

Rangers are unbeaten in five games going into the match against the reformed former Football League side, who are the highest scorers in the league this season with 28 goals.

Clowes said: "We have had Chester watched twice now and they are certainly very good going forward.

"Every now then, they lose a game and then win three on the trot but we have got to make sure that we get a result.

"The confidence of the players should be OK and you expect a physical test against every team in this league."
