Tividale's Jason Welborn believes he is a better boxer for fighting while injured - and aims to prove it after taking a bout at the Tower Ballrooms in Birmingham.

The 25-year-old will be a part of the Dave Coldwell-promoted bill on September 23, in a four-rounder against Danny Dontchev.

Welborn is one of four Black Country fighters scheduled to appear with Dudley's Ryan Aston, Walsall's Danny Clews and Coseley debutant Tommy Ghent also down for action.

Birmingham boxers Max Maxwell, Eddie McIntosh, John Connelly and Andrew Patterson - who is rematched with Clews after stopping him in four rounds at Walsall Town Hall in February - fill out the rest of the card.

There's also a return to the ring for Aston's Chris Truman, for the first time since his undefeated record ended in a one-round defeat to Lee Jennings three months ago.

And Welborn warns his right hand, broken in two places in May, has fully recovered as he gets himself up and running after the summer break.

The hard-hitting light middleweight still took wins over Rick Boulter and Bheki Moyo while nursing the injury and insists it has helped, rather than hampered, with his development.

Hesaid: "My right hand is better now, I couldn't spar with it for my last two fights, all I could do was running and shadow boxing.

"I have been passed off, so I sparred last week for the first time in a couple of months and my hand is back to how it was at the beginning.

"Hopefully I can use my power a bit more now, last time I was sticking to my boxing a bit more and holding back.

"I got the wins and the rounds under belt but, in this one, I can use my power and my boxing.

"I feel like I can do both now and I am learning all of the while."
