Kidderminster Harriers can call upon Jack Byrne against Southport for the first time this season - but the midfielder faces a battle to get into the match-day squad.

Byrne has sit out the first four Blue Square Premier games of the campaign after serving a five-match ban, for a red card at Rushden & Diamonds in the penultimate game of last season.

And Harriers have a real battle for places in the middle of the park going into tomorrow's game, heightened by Scott Phelan's equaliser in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at home to Stockport.

Phelan, the only midfielder among the substitutes, climbed off the bench to grab his first goal for the club and will be involved tomorrow.

Striker Steve Guinan made way in that game with cramp, but the veteran frontman is expected to be passed fit.

Harriers will be looking to get their first home win on the board with revenge in mind, after Southport's 4-3 win at Aggborough last season.

Steve Burr's men have a 100 per cent record away from home and the manager wants that winning feeling on home soil tomorrow.

He said: "It is important to win every game and we will always try to do that.

"But the supporters get right behind us here and we want to give them a win after two really good results away from home last week, so the sooner the better.

"It is going to be difficult – Southport are still in the division after getting their reprieve from relegation and will be determined to make the most of it.

"Last season we had one of the most exciting games of the season against them here.

"Hopefully we can have more of the same on Saturday, but with us scoring more than they do."
