Stafford Rangers have allowed Alex Forde and Joe Rogers to go out on loan in the opening month of the new season.

Forde has been allowed to join Bromsgrove Sporting while Rogers is going to Ellesmere Rangers, both initially for a month.

Utility man Forde had been on trial at Luton this summer but, after signing non-contract forms for a second season at Marston Road, has been farmed out to a club three leagues below Rangers.

Rogers, who can also operate in midfield or at full-back, will be competing in the division above with the Midland Alliance outfit.

Rangers boss Greg Clowes revealed he has also fielded loan enquiries for Sean Jones and Rob Stevenson, although the manager is reluctant to let Stevenson go.

Clowes has also not given hope of bringing Chris Flynn back to Marston Road for a second spell, despite gridlock in their opening talks on Tuesday.

Rangers can still speak to the Nantwich defender for another three weeks under the 21-day 'cooling off' period, after their week's notice to speak to the player expired on Monday.

And Clowes said: "This particular situation with Chris is not dead in the water, we still have a three-week window where we can monitor the situation. They are the rules and we will use that.

"I have had a chat with him and it was a very good chat, I find him a very intelligent boy. And he's been very tempted, there's no doubt about that.

"But he just felt that, with him getting him in the team, he should just give it another couple of weeks at Nantwich."

Clowes made five changes to the team in Rangers' 1-0 defeat at home to Chorley on Tuesday night, including Jon Sheldon who made his competitive debut after a three-match suspension.

A breakdown in communication during his ban prompted the Rangers boss to seek talks with the player, but the situation has now been resolved.

He said: "Jon came in and gave us something we haven't had this season, I had a good chat with him before the game because I had to be sure he was in the right frame of mind to play.

"Maybe if I hadn't have worked with him before, he wouldn't have started, but I know Jon well enough to believe what he tells me."
