Stafford Rangers will replace Charlie Reeves with Ryan Dicker for the pre-season friendly with AFC Telford after the defender played through the pain against Tamworth.

Reeves has been carrying an ankle injury for the last two weeks but completed the full 90 minutes in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Marston Road.

The summer signing was imperious at the back as Rangers chased a one-goal deficit through Richard Tait's clinical 21st minute finish, seizing the equaliser through Sean Kinsella's stoppage time penalty.

Kinsella, in his first appearance of pre-season after a hip injury, had dusted himself down to take the spot kick after the home side had already missed one penalty, Liam Shotton's effort saved by goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge.

It ended all square with Reeves on his last legs and the central defender will sit out tonight's clash at Marston Road, with Dicker replacing him at centre-half after he sat out Saturday's game.

And manager Greg Clowes has warned he will be looking for more star shows against Telford.

The Rangers boss said: "I am pleased with a lot of things, especially the togetherness and commitment from the lads, and if we are to do well this season we must have those qualities in abundance.

"With a 4-4-2 formation, I'm looking for partnerships all over the pitch, Reeves and Paul Donnelly, Glynn Blackhurst and Mike Douglas and so on. If we get these partnerships right in the game, we will be OK.

"The one thing that we need to put right is our dead ball free kicks and corners, as they weren't good enough all afternoon on Saturday."
