Wolves plucked two precious points from the home of play-off contenders Belle Vue as team boss Peter Adams declared "we are on the march."

The two teams were never separated by more than a couple of points in a nip and tuck affair at Kirkmanshulme Lane.

It was all square with two to go and Tai Woffinden got up on the line in heat 14 to deny the Aces' Ricky Kling and keep it that way.

Swedish star Fredrik Lindgren then nipped past fellow Grand Prix rider Chris Harris on the first lap of the decider to give Wolves their best away result of the season.

While Lindgen and skipper Peter Karlsson again led the way there was support throughout the order – Wolves had nine race winners in the 15 heats – and backing from some unlikely quarters.

Veteran James Grieves, who rode for the club as far back as 1996, came in as a double-up replacement for Ludvig Lindgren and the 36-year-old Scot contributed a rock solid seven points.

And, to the travelling fans' delight, there was a first Elite League race win for American Tyson Burmeister, who has had such a torrid debut season in this country.

With a brace of victories apiece for Woffinden and Ty Proctor, the latter delivering a vital 5-1 in heat 11 with Lindgren, Wolves were able to carry Finnish rider Tero Aarnio on his debut.

While Wolves were happy with their draw, Karlsson felt wistfully that a victory had eluded them.

The captain rattled off a hat-trick of victories before failing to score in his final two outings off the poorer gates.
