Kidderminster Harriers today turned their attentions to their next friendly at Leamington after losing their first pre-season game at Stratford.

Harriers had run out comfortable 3-0 winners at Bishops Cleeve on Tuesday but saw the tables turned on them away from home last night, as Stratford came from behind to force a 2-1 victory.

Robert Thompson-Brown scored against the club where he excelled on loan last season before the hosts hit back, two goals from Martin Thompson sealing the win for the Midland Alliance side.

There were eight trialists among 16 Harriers players used on the night but the likes of Jack Byrne, Tom Sharpe, Michael Briscoe and Jamille Matt all started the game.

A host of first-team players are set to return at the New Windmill Ground tomorrow but, on reflection, Harriers boss Steve Burr viewed the Stratford game as a worthwhile exercise.

He said: "This game was put on to give us the chance to look at a few lads and see whether they're better than what we've got at the club.

"It was a useful exercise in that sense and I really do have to give Stratford a lot of credit for their hospitality and agreeing to the game at relatively short notice.

"They are a club we have a good relationship with, we sent Robbie there last year and he did well, and hopefully they will go on again to have a good season."
