Former caretaker boss Kevin Street is staying at Stafford Rangers after agreeing terms for a return as a player at Marston Road.

The 33-year-old played in Saturday's first pre-season friendly against Port Vale and has put pen to paper on non-contract forms for the upcoming Evo-Stik Premier League campaign.

Street hadn't pulled on a Rangers shirt since 2008, when he and striker Neil Grayson were put in temporary charge of the team after Phil Robinson had resigned the previous November.

Both left the club after Steve Bull took charge the following February and Street went into management, taking over as boss of Nantwich before he was sacked in March.

The midfielder has now decided to lace up his boots again for one last run as a player, with no influence on the coaching team behind the scenes.

The former Crewe, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury player brings experience to the side from a career spanning 14 years, 11 of those as a professional.
