Kidderminster Harriers utility man Chris McPhee has signed for League One new-boys Torquay on a two-year contract as a free agent.

McPhee returns to the club where he spent the 2006-07 season, before drifting off into non-league football with Ebbsfleet, Weymouth and then Harriers in February 2009.

The 28-year-old leaves Aggborough as the club's longest serving player and top scorer last season with 18 goals, but was resigned to his exit.

Commuting from his home in Newton Abbot, Devon, had become a hardship for McPhee, who is married with a young child.

The former Brighton trainee was also the highest paid player at Harriers last season and, with manager Steve Burr looking to increase the size of his squad, a similar deal was unlikely.
