Stourbridge Saxons have unveiled front row veteran Chris Fortey as their new forwards coach.

The 35-year-old will also provide cover for Worcester Warriors after agreeing a six-month contract with the Premiership club.

Hooker Fortey has more than 200 top flight games under his belt, having been a regular at Gloucester before heading to Sixways in 2005.

Saxons director of rugby Neil Mitchell is now looking forward to the new campaign, when Fortey will link up with backs coach and fellow Warriors legend Thinus Delport.

Mitchell said: "I am extremely pleased to announce Chris as forwards coach at Stourbridge for the 2011-12 season.

"He will be working closely with myself and Thinus during the coming months and we are looking forward to the experience and expertise he can bring to our coaching team.

"This opportunity will enable the continuity of the good work done by Tony Windo last season and maintains the strong Warriors link.

"Chris has committed to Warriors as a player until Christmas to compete in their Premiership campaign.

"However, Warriors' chief executive officer Charlie Little has indicated there may be opportunities during the early season where Chris may be released to play for the Saxons.

"Chris is not only keen to progress as a coach, but to enhance our team as a player and leader."
