Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr is planning to utilise the loan market to fill any potential gaps in his squad going into the new season.

Burr is putting the finishing touches to his squad and already 16 players going on the books, while more could sign over the summer.

The squad report back for pre-season training on July 4 along with a batch of trialists looking to earn a deal, but Burr may turn to loans ahead of the big kick-off.

The Harriers boss brought in the likes of Mike Williams and Aman Verma on a short-term basis last August and, if he is short on numbers, will do again.

Sean Canham and Matthew Lowe spent the back end of last season on loan at Aggborough while, mid-season, the weather wiped out the temporary stays of Craig Lindfield and Mitch McPike.

All provided cover when Harriers needed it and Burr believes the loan market could be invaluable to the club.

He said: "The loan players have got to be right and you really need to do your homework on them. They need to be hungry and you need to be bringing in a lad that has a point to prove.

"It is a system that can really benefit clubs at our level – financially because there are occasions where parent clubs will help you with managing the wages and also, on the flip side, it allows clubs to get some games into their young lads.

"I'll always be looking to add and it won't be any different this year, but I would expect any loans to be some of the business we do towards the end of pre-season."
