Kidderminster Harriers defender Tom Sharpe has met manager Steve Burr for talks over his future after returning to full fitness from a knee injury.

Sharpe sat out the end of last season after dislocating his left kneecap, but is not willing to prove his fitness in pre-season without a contract.

The 22-year-old is out-of-contract at Aggborough but wants to stay with Harriers, who he joined from Nottingham Forest two years ago.

Harriers have added Luke Jones and Tom Marshall to their defensive ranks this summer, while Michael Briscoe has also signed a new contract.

Mark Albrighton has been released to join Nuneaton and it's unclear whether boss Burr wants four centre-backs for next season, leaving Sharpe's future up in the air.

He said: "The gaffer has spoken to me, I would like to stay at Kidderminster if possible, so if we could get something sorted out there I would be happy.

"He's obviously brought in a few players and is still sorting out his budget, but I have made it clear that I am fully fit now and I am not prepared to go on trial."

Sharpe is training alone over the summer to keep his fitness levels up, on the advice of Harriers' medical staff.

He said: "I am just waiting for next season. I haven't really stopped and I was just about getting back to full fitness when the season finished.

"The physio told me that I would be better keeping up my fitness over the summer, rather than letting it drop.

"Hopefully, I should be the fittest one there in pre-season."
