Rangers prepare to meet with fans
Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes has vowed "to be honest" with supporters when they meet face-to-face at an open meeting.
Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes has vowed "to be honest" with supporters when they meet face-to-face at an open meeting.
The club have invited fans and shareholders to Marston Road for a question and answer session tonight, starting at 7:30pm.
Clowes and his assistant Dorian Garner will attend, along with new club secretary Robbie Mullin and outgoing chairman Mike Hughes.
The new commercial team of Mullin, Lorna Beeby, Stuart Maun and Peter Dent will also be on hand to outline their ideas for the club off the pitch.
Rangers were hoping to unveil some of next season's squad but, as non-contract forms are not available to clubs for another week, Clowes may choose to keep the identities of his captures to himself until they sign on the dotted line.
But the Rangers boss, who took charge at the start of the month, insists he will still have plenty to say to supporters.
He said: "I just want the fans to know that I am going to be honest with them, but they have got to trust me on this.
"After our meeting, they can put a face to a name and will know that I don't talk rubbish and I don't promise things that are not going to happen.
"Sometimes when you talk sensible, you can lower that bar just a little bar to a level that can realistically be achieved."
Hughes is preparing to stand down next month but, as it stands, is still running the club day-to-day.
And the chairman believes the new manager is already starting to win over the fans.
He said: "Since we made the announcement, all of the vibes have been very positive and the feedback from the fans has been pretty good, everybody thinks it's a good appointment.
"I am starting to get people coming in to buy season tickets and I am expecting more over the next couple of weeks."
