Stafford Rangers manager Greg Clowes believes his reign will be the start of a new era at Marston Road.

Clowes took charge at the start of the month replacing Matt Elliott, who resigned after relegation from the Blue Square North, where Rangers were founder members.

The club will now have to adapt to life in the Evo-Stik Premier League with a new manager, a revamped squad and a new chairman, with Mike Hughes stepping down next month.

But Clowes insists it gives Rangers the opportunity to start afresh, playing in the third tier of non-league football for the first time since 2004.

The likes of Newcastle Town duo Jordan Johnson and Neville Thompson, who hit 41 goals between them for Clowes last season, could be just two of the new faces at Marston Road this summer.

And the Rangers boss has promised supporters that they can expect to see a hard-working outfit next season.

He said: "I think it's a brand new era and a fresh start for everyone. And the one thing I can promise the people at Stafford Rangers it that, whoever puts the shirt on, will work.

"Players can't play well technically every week but, when they are having not so good a game, they can give 110 per cent every game and get some sweat on the brow.

"When we can play, we will play. When we can't, we will compete.

"I think that goes a long way with supporters."
