Cambridge may have taken the spoils in this end of season clash but the outcome was in the balance right up until the final seconds.
Eight tries and plenty of running rugby proved a real treat as the Saxons finished their Stourton Park fixtures in the party spirit.
The visitors made the perfect start, claiming their first try after just three minutes when pressure straight from the start resulted in second row Len Ashcroft-Leigh dotting down after bludgeoning his way over from two yards.
Dan Mugford's conversion extended the lead before Stourbridge hit back through a well-struck Jamie Hearn penalty ten minutes later.
Saxons then nosed ahead when winger Matt Williams popped up on his opposite flank and powered his way to the line, dragging his opposite number with him.
The lead remained intact until the final move of the half. Cambridge had threatened earlier but Hearn beat Phil Ellis to Mugford's cheeky kick ahead, while Tom Jarvis stopped Mugford in his tracks as the stand-off looked set to cross.
It was Mugford who was instrumental in his side's second try, making the break upfield before passing to full-back Billy Robinson who ran in unopposed, Mugford kicking the conversion.
Captain Darren Fox thought he had grabbed a third Cambridge try early in the second period but, after charging down a Sam Robinson kick and running 30 metres to the line, he was denied a certain score by Gary Dipple's outstanding tackle.
Billy Moss replaced Andi Lawrence on 48 minutes but was back on the touchline 10 minutes later, having picked up a yellow card for handling in the ruck.
The visitors took full advantage of their extra man and back row Gareth McComb dived in for a converted try to stretch his side's lead to 21-8.
But, the longer the game went on, the more open it became with the sides seemingly able to score at will.
The unflappable Tommy Richardson claimed a second Saxons try on 67 minutes, slithering and bouncing his way to the line after taking a tap penalty 15 metres out.
Replacement Alex Kelsall then found plenty of space on the left to run in a bonus try for the visitors only for Stourbridge to hit back again, when superb work from replacement scrum-half Peter White unleashed Thinus Delport out wide to score just minutes after taking to the field.
But it was Cambridge who had the final word when Fox pounced on a fumble at a Stourbridge line-out to canter over the line, Mugford capping an impressive display by slotting over his fifth conversion.
