Adams furious as Wolves miss out

Team boss Peter Adams hit out at two controversial decisions after Wolves just failed to snatch victory.
A nip and tuck Elite League encounter on a dusty Kirkmanshulme Lane circuit saw the visitors needing a last-heat 5-1 for the win at Belle Vue.
Skipper Peter Karlsson and Fredrik Lindgren led the way until the third lap when the captain fell and was disqualified from the rerun after Belle Vue's Chris Harris got through.
"Harris passed Peter, parked the bike in front of him in the pits corner and left him nowhere to go other than fall or run over him and kill them both," said Adams.
"He did the same thing in heat 13 and Peter was disqualified then, too."
The 1pm start in blazing sunshine yesterday led inevitably to dustbowl conditions. "An absolute pig of a track," declared Adams.
"We always say this, that it's the same for everybody. But I'm sure that, had track conditions been more conducive to what we're used to everywhere else, we could have won."
There were positives for Adams, with an away league point tucked away and a best Wolves score yet of paid 10 — including two race wins — for Ricky Wells.
"That's the galling thing," said Adams. "When one of these reserves does something, you have to take advantage.
"But we would have taken a point before we came. That's got to be what we're looking to achieve everywhere.
"If you can win handsomely at home and take a point everywhere else, that's an average of two points a meeting and that's sufficient to reach the play-offs.
"Prior to us making changes, if that is what we are going to do, then all we can do is to cling on to the coat tails of the pacesetters.
"It was a massive crowd, the biggest they must have had for some time. But a lot of Wolves fans are going home disappointed."
