Stafford Rangers boss Matt Elliott will bring back captain Craig McAughtrie after vowing to make changes for the crucial final home game of the season against Eastwood.

McAughtrie will be recalled to the starting line-up tonight for the first time in eight games, after returning to the squad as an unused substitute for Saturday's dire 5-1 home defeat to Droylsden.

Elliott will also take rookie goalkeeper Tom Turner out of the firing line after he shipped five on his debut, with No 1 Lee Evans available again after missing the weekend game due to outside commitments.

But Alex Forde's season could be over after the utility man suffered another tweak in his hamstring, with Elliott ruling him out for the "foreseeable future."

And there could be further changes as the Rangers boss for his side to rebound after Saturday's horror show, leaving the club two points from safety in the Blue Square North.

He said: "Craig will start tomorrow, I did think about throwing him on for the last half an hour on Saturday to give him a run out, but it was probably not the best environment to bring him back into.

"There will be changes tonight, no doubt about it, to freshen things up. I am not going to pussy foot around the players anymore.

"Maybe I have been a bit of a soft touch over the last couple of games."

With nearest survival rivals Hyde not playing tonight, Rangers could climb out of the relegation places with a win.

Elliott believes that would give his team the edge going into the next run of fixtures, despite having played a game more.

He said: "We are only two points behind with three games left to play, it's far from irretrievable and people need to remember that."
