Frustrated Stafford Rangers manager Matt Elliott confessed that his players needed to show more fight if they are to remain in Blue Square Bet North.

He saw his side crash 5-1 to visitors Droylsden on Saturday and admitted they deserved nothing from the game.

"We were nowhere near at the races and we must now treat our remaining games as cup finals," Elliott said.

"It's all about picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves off and preparing for a battle tomorrow night when we have another challenge against Eastwood Town."

Ciaran Kilheeney bagged a first-half double and then struck twice more after the break with Domaine Rouse also on the scoresheet. Luke Keen netted Stafford's late consolation.

"As stupid as it sounds, I was reasonably happy at half-time despite the score line," the Boro boss added. "But when you concede just 45 seconds into the second half you soon become your own worst enemy.

"We didn't show any fight. We weren't clever enough and in truth, we didn't deserve anything from the game and that frustrates me. With Hyde having picked up a point (at Boston), we now need to find a win and hope they lose all three."
